SMBC Aviation Capital delivers its first Airbus A320neo aircraft

2nd June 2016: SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies, has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo aircraft at the Airbus facility in Toulouse. The aircraft is being leased to GoAir and is the Indian airline’s first Neo with a second A320neo due on sale and leaseback in June.

This brings the number of aircraft leased by SMBC Aviation Capital to GoAir to five. In total, SMBC Aviation Capital has 110 A320neo and 5 A321ceo on order from Airbus.

Commenting on the milestone delivery, Peter Barrett, CEO of SMBC Aviation Capital said, "GoAir has been a long-standing and valued customer of SMBC Aviation Capital since 2007 and we are very pleased to announce the delivery of this aircraft, a first for both parties. This development is a positive continuation of our relationship, with both the airline and Airbus.

Mumbai based, GoAir has a total of 72 A320neo aircraft on order. The airline flies to 22 Indian destinations.

The A320neo family incorporates latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, which together deliver more than 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020 with further cabin innovations.
