Iberia today resumes flights to Havana, with the best product in the market between Spain and Cuba. The Spanish airline is using new Airbus A330s on the route, carrying up to 278 passengers —36 in Business and 242 in Economy— which amounts to some 12,000 seats per month.

The first flight will depart from T4 at Madrid-Barajas airport. One of Iberia’s largest aircraft, a 346-seat Airbus A340/600, will be used for to meet the high demand for this maiden flight.

Starting today, Iberia will operate five weekly direct flights to Havana, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays.

New Aircraft and New Seats

Iberia will operate on the Havana route with new Airbus A330s, the latest to be added to its fleet. With two engines, they burn less fuel and emit less CO2 into the atmosphere.

The new aircraft feature Iberia’s newly designed cabins, with 2-metre-long flat beds in Business, all with direct access to the aisle, and with large touch screens for one of the most advanced on-demand entertainment systems in the market, with late-release films, television series, a huge variety of musical options, etc. Gourmet cuisine based on the Mediterranean diet is another attraction, and it is served with a selection of the most exquisite regional Spanish wines.

The new Economy section feature more comfortable and ergonomic seats, with power supplies and a full range of ports for personal electronic devices of all kinds, as well as entertainment on demand via individual touch screens.

All passengers can obtain access to the aircraft’s Wi-Fi and GSM networks for connecting to the internet and making telephone calls.

The Best Connection in Spain and the Rest of Europe

The new Iberia flights to and from Havana are timed to offer the best connections with such Spanish destinations as Barcelona, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Bilbao, Mallorca, Vigo, Corunna, and also with London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, etc, plus other Iberia medium-haul destinations in Africa —Malabo, Algiers, Dakar, Lagos, and Accra.

Good Havana connections to/from a total of more than 90 destinations in Spain, Europe, Africa and the Middle East are available at Iberia’s T4 hub at Madrid-Barajas airport, for the convenience of both holiday and business travellers.

Leadership between Europe and Latin America

The Havana services will strengthen Iberia’s market leadership in flights between Europe and Latin America, which is one of the aims of the airline’s Future Plan. In the past six month Iberia has launched or resumed flights to five Latin American destinations: Santo Domingo, Montevideo, Havana, Cali and Medellin. During this summer season Iberia is serving 19 destinations in 15 Latin American countries with 250 flights per week, in most cases daily and direct.
