Aerolineas Argentinas welcomes the 71st plane to its fleet

Aerolineas Argentinas has received a new Boeing 737/800 for its fleet for domestic and regional operations, being the eleventh aircraf of this type, received directly from the Boeing Factory in Seattle – now the number of these aircraft is fifteen units.

The B-737/800, with license LV-FVM, is part of the program of modernization and extension of fleet that Aerolíneas Argentinas instrumented from the moment in which it turned to be a State flag airline. This morning, it has been presented at the “Aeroparque Metropolitano” (our airport for domestic flights) by the Company President, Mariano Recalde, accompanied by the Ministry of Economy, Axel Kicillof.

At the moment of presenting the new plane, Mr. Recalde indicated: “This is the plane number 71 that is incorporated to the Aerolíneas Argentinas fleet and the operation number 150 that we perform among return operations and new acquisitions, from the moment the National State is in charge of the company. It means the continuation of a Business Plan that we have developed together with Axel Kiciloff and with many other professionals of the air industry to make that a destroyed, cannibalized and practically out of service could be lifted. This plane means that: to fly more, to reach to all the provinces and to continue connecting the country”.

On the other hand, Ministry Kicillof assured that:”Aerolíneas Argentinas favours the connectivity of our country, that is why the air traffic is so important for tourism, the investment and some exporting operations” and he stressed: “We are in the presence of a federal plan and a of a global context of crisis, which was maintained throughout the management of Mariano Recalde; Nevertheless, the company showed a great growth, duplicating the number of transported passengers, the frequencies and triplicating the quantity of planes of its fleet. Why nobody speaks about it? Argentina recovered one of the most important economic means with Aerolíneas; that is the reason why the success is of this management is insuperable”

Nowadays, the Aerolíneas Argentinas fleet of aircrafts of narrow-bodied aircraft, for domestic and regional flights, is unified in a single brand and has the 15 B-737/800 and the 22 B-737/700 NG, a very different situation from the one presented in the year 2008, when the State took over the administration of the company, the entire heterogeneous and ancient fleet, had only 26 operational aircraft.

From this new addition to B-737/800, there are still four new units remaining to be incorporated, what is thought for April and August of this year and in January and February of 2016.

The renewal and extension of the short- and medium-range fleet, previewed in the Aerolíneas Argentinas Business Plan, it will continue with the purchase of the other twenty B-737/800, new from factory, that will be delivered, according to the order of acquisition signed in October of the past year of the Boeing Company, among 2016 and 2018. The B-737/800 has 170 seats with 162 stalls and 8 stalls in Club Economy.
