Aerolineas Argentinas adds new Boeing 737-800 to its fleet

Aerolíneas Argentinas received a new Boeing 737/800 aircraft for its domestic and regional flights fleet, having now 32 aircraft of this type in its models 700 and 800 Next Generation.

The Boeing 737/800, 0 km, is the ninth new plane, of this type, that Aerolíneas incorporates directly from the Boeing factory, settled in Seattle, United States of America. Thus, the fleet of B-737/800 reaches now to 13 units.

The new B-737/800 aircraft are part of the program of modernization and extension of the fleet that Aerolíneas Argentinas has implemented from the nationalization of the flag airline.

The Company President has detailed “this is part of the program of the modernization and extension of the fleet that we initiated when the State took charge of Aerolíneas and will permit us to increase connectivity, frequencies and to go on increasing the quantity of transported passengers, that we estimates that this year will be exceed ten million of passengers”.

Additionally, he commented that “when we took charge of the company the average of age of the fleet was more than twenty years, with aircraft that demanded an enormous expenditure in maintenance and that was not at the height of the modern requirements. Nowadays –he affirmed- the average is of 7, 1 years and we achieved to be below the six (6) years when the next one is incorporated”.

Thus, Aerolíneas Argentinas continues developing its Business Plan that will have its continuation with the purchase of other 20 B-737/800 aircraft Next Generation, according to the order of acquisition signed in October of last year with the Boeing factory.

It is noteworthy that the benefit to increase the fleet of B-737/800 aircraft is given because these aircraft can be configured with a greater quantity of seats and this results in a lower operating cost. The B-737/800 aircraft hast 170 seats (162 of them in tourist class and another 8 in Economy Plus) and in the inner part of its cabin is designed according to the specifications of Boeing Sky inside to provide greater comfort and convenience to passengers.
