Transaero Appointed as Designated Carrier on Routes from Moscow to Antalya and Istanbul

Moscow, July 8, 2013 – Transaero Airlines was named by the Russian civil aviation authorities the second designated carrier from the Russian side to perform scheduled flights to Anatalya and Istanbul from Moscow. Transaero has obtained the authorization to make seven flights a week on each route.

Transaero has a long history of flights to Turkey and has become an acknowledged leader among the airlines in terms of passenger traffic between the two countries.

Transaero was the first Russian carrier to perform a charter flight to Antalya in the beginning of the 1990-s thus paving the way for Russian tourists to the Mediterranean resorts.

The airline carried nearly six million passengers between Russia and Turkey over the past decade. In 2012 Transaero serviced about one million passengers on the flights to the Turkish destinations. Transaero’s share in the overall charter passenger traffic on the Moscow-Antalya route reaches 85%. Currently, Transaero provides services to Antalya from three Russian cities – Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg. The airline also offers air services from Moscow to such Turkish leisure destinations as Bodrum and Dalaman.

Transaero’s significant contribution to the development of the Turkish travel industry was recognized earlier this year when the airline received a special award of the Turkish Ministry for Culture and Tourism.

The appointment of Transaero to perform regular flights between Moscow and Antalya will undoubtedly offer wider possibilities for the airline’s clients.

At the same time, the appointment of Transaero as a designated carrier on the highly demanded Moscow-Istanbul route is of particular importance for the airline as well. Broad and positive experience of the airline’s flights to Turkey, high level standards of passenger service along with five levels of passenger service offering, and an efficient aircraft fleet are the factors that will contribute to the further development of air services between the largest cities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey as well as to strengthening the traditional cooperation between our two countries.
