Iberia Airlines selects Rockwell Collins avionics, SATCOM and electronic Fly Smart system for 33 A330s and A340s

FARNBOROUGH, England (July 9, 2012) – Spain-based Iberia Airlines has selected a full suite of Rockwell Collins communication, surveillance and navigation avionics for 16 new Airbus A330s, and SATCOM SwiftBroadband for 17 Airbus A340s currently in its fleet. Iberia also selected Rockwell Collins Fly Smart with Airbus (FSA) system for its new A330s.

FSA gives flight crews electronic access to essential information such as electronic documentation, performance computation, electronic logbooks, navigational charts and graphical weather, and cabin crews can easily call up cabin manuals and checklists. FSA is the only aircraft and flight information management system offered on the A330, combining commercial, off-the-shelf hardware and software solutions with a modular and flexible architecture to safely and efficiently link aircraft with ground-based networks.

“FSA, combined with our most advanced satellite communications and proven avionics, including our award-winning MultiScan™ weather threat detection system and Multi-mode Receiver for precision approaches, will result in significant operational efficiency gains for Iberia,” said Claude Alber, vice president and managing director of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EuMEA) for Rockwell Collins.

Deliveries of Iberia’s new A330s are planned for 2013.
