Roissy – XL Airways France announces its 2010-2011 results. After a difficult year 2010, XL Airways France has adapted its economic model and undertook essential measures to come back to a profitable result in spite of unsettled tourism and air travel environment.

During the 2010-2011 fiscal year, XL Airways France achieved a turnover of 304 million euro. This 5% increase is due to an improvement of its mix-product and the raise of fuel price, partly offset by a decrease in number of flight hours. More than 1.12 million passengers were transported.

“In 2011, as its competitors, XL was significantly hit by the consequences of Egyptian and Tunisian revolutions, which brought to a drop of its medium haul flights. However, the development of scheduled flights to the United States had a very positive impact on the results of last summer.

XL Airways France realized a net result of 1.1 million Euros. XL France group has achieved a turnover of 402 million Euros for a balanced consolidated net result.

Statement of Laurent Magnin, Chairman CEO XL Airways France XL Airways France renew its fleet, while controlling its expenses “In 2011, XL replaced 2 Airbus A320 by 2 Boeing 737-800. These aircraft of 189 seats capacity have permitted to update the medium haul activity of the airline.

XL has also ordered a brand new A330-300, which will be delivered in November 2012 by Airbus. This aircraft will be fully equipped economic class and will be used to XL major destinations. The “low fare” long haul flight business-model appears to be the most appropriate development for XL, but it will require a real cost control.

XL is the preferred partner of the big touristic groups, specialized and non-specialized as well as internet consolidators and distributors. However, the development of its “schedule flight” activity is fundamental for the company, because it will provide its main future growth.

During this ongoing winter season, in cooperation with its subsidiary Vacances Héliades, XL continues the development of its activities toward Cabo Verde and has been granted schedule traffic rights to Brazil (Salvador de Bahia). The airline has also maintained all its long haul destinations, despite of strengthened competitions on the market.

In summer 2012, XL Airways France will open two weekly rotations to San Francisco. The opening of a second route to the west coast is an answer to the request of our compatriots to discover this upmost part of America. With XL, it will consequently be possible to enter by San Francisco and leave by Las Vegas or either way at very competitive rates. America is sometimes accessible at good rates with non direct flights, but XL proves that direct long haul flights can also be low-fare from our country. This summer, XL will provide daily flights to New York: the “big apple” deserves a visit with an XL purchasing power.”
